Niseko town is known for its powder white snow and world-renowned ski resorts which operate all year round for adventure seekers and sports enthusiasts. Beyond adrenaline thrills, Niseko provides calming outdoor activities for those who appreciate places of relaxation to rest and rejuvenate.
All around the Hokkaido region, you’ll uncover little slices of heaven in the form of natural hot springs, also known as ‘onsens’, each of which possess their own unique characteristics amidst nature. Here’s a guide to our favourite outdoor onsens in Niseko:

Located on the foot of Mt. Annupuri, is a time-honoured secret known as Goshiki Onsen. Its natural sulphuric spring water – originating from neighbouring peak Mt Iwao-nupuri – makes it one of Japan’s best onsens! A trip to Goshiki in autumn is an experience not to be missed, as you’ll be able to relax in soothing, hot mineral-rich water, all while being mesmerized by surrounding fall foliage!
The onsen is open every day from 9AM to 8PM in May – November, and open from 10AM to 7PM in December – April. So, make sure to plan a visit!

Up for a magical experience deep in the mountains of Niseko? Visit Yukichichibu Onsen, which is one of the rarest forms of hot springs in Japan. This onsen features rich, pure sulfur water and “mineral mud” – a mixture of grey clay and thermal mud oozing from the bottom of its baths – which is only found in a handful of other locations in Japan. These special minerals heal and moisturise the skin, and acts as a natural sunscreen. This world-class onsen is a must-visit on your next trip to Niseko.

After an active day of sightseeing, nothing feels better than an onsen bath for recovery. We highly recommend Yugokorotei Hot Spring as they offer both indoor baths and outdoor rock baths which feature its natural sulphuric spring water.
As you sit in the outdoor bath with the hot water cleansing your body, you can admire the autumn leaves surrounding you which makes for an unforgettable view.
Come visit us before mid-October to enjoy a relaxing experience with stunning views!
