As part of the Buddhist Pure Land architecture, the temple represents the Pure Land Paradise and is home to National Treasures such as the Phoenix Hall.
Did you know Ikebana; the art of flower arranging, originated from a small temple in the heart of Kyoto City?

The Choho-ji temple, better known as Rokkakudo, is one of Kyoto’s most ancient temples. According to legend, the origins of Ikebana can be traced back to the 15th century, when Sankei Ikenobo, one of the temple’s monks, invented a style of flower arranging which was passed down over the centuries.

Since this temple is just a 5-minute walk from our hotel, make it your first stop when you visit!
