For a few days every year, during the vernal and autumnal equinox, get a chance to witness the most mysterious sunset on Amami Oshima island. This phenomenon has come to be known as \u201cThe Dragon\u2019s Eye\u201d, as it unmistakably portrays the eye of a dragon. When this happens, the likelihood of sighting its appearance is only about 20 - 30%, which is what makes it the most rewarding sunset to witness on the island. If you\u2019re lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the eye, make sure to bring your camera to commemorate the moment.<\/p>

Taking a trip to \u201cGaganbana Tunnel\u201d where eye of the dragon phenomenon occurs requires you to take a scenic drive to En Village, which is one of the island\u2019s most picturesque drives. It is even more beautiful in the evening when you can feel the refreshing air and witness the beauty of the island through the night scenery.<\/p>

Another great way to sightsee around the island is to take the same drive during sunset or on a sunny day, as it provides a different type of scene which allows you to admire the beauty of nature through a seaside drive. When taking this road, stay safe and always be mindful of cars and oncoming traffic.<\/p>
